Advertising Properties
We advertise available social housing homes each week on this website via the Property Search, and printed newsletters which are available at lots of places within the area.
The adverts use a range of symbols to tell you about the property, click here to find out what they mean. A photograph of the property is included in the advert, as well as information about the area the home is in, including schools, shops, bus routes. The adverts also include information to help you know whether the home is suitable for you, for example an advert for a three bedroom house might suggest that people with two or more children are most likely to be successful. The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements
To be re-housed you have to look at the adverts each week to see if there is a home which you would like and if there is, you bid for it either through the website or by telephone. Please note that placing a bid does not mean you will definitely be offered the property. You will be contacted if you have been successful.
People who need extra help with bidding can put forward another person to place their bid for them, for example a support worker, friend or relatives.
Expressing Your Interest in a Property
To apply for a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only apply for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step One-Registration for the maximum number of bedrooms that you are entitled to. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding.
You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

Properties available to rent are advertised from midnight on a Wednesday to midnight the following Monday every week.
You will be able to bid for one property only during the time they are advertised. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Monday. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your family size.
